Over the past 2 years, Carlos has performed over 250 concerts with Mystery Ensemble in some of the UK’s most iconic venues, such as The Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh, Oxford Town Hall, The Stoller Hall, St George’s Bristol, Sheldonian Theatre and more.

  • Consisting of the best Latin American string players in the UK, Caribe Quartet specialises in playing light classical music from Latin America, South America and the Caribbean as well as unique arrangements of Latin and non-Latin popular songs. With a vast repertoire which spans all the way from traditional Danzon’s, Comparsas, Boleros all the way to bespoke arrangements of Buena Vista Social Club, and Santana - Caribe Quartet challenges the norms of the classic string quartet, as they bring danceable rhythms of the Caribbean to the elegant setting of the string quartet.

Being part of the Caribe Quartet creates a meaningful connection with Latin-American music - a genre that resonates with Carlos on a personal level as a Mexican. It allows him to celebrate his heritage and share it with the audience. His very deep understanding of the specific tone and mood changes that this sort of music requires alongside his academic background makes him an irreplaceable member of  the quartet as this repertoire requires a great flexibility, knowledge of the repertoire and a very specific sense of rhythm.
